Orangutans are very strong animal with long arms, the adult male weight
up to 1 kilogram. They can live up to 45 years old and start breeding
between 12 and 15 years old, with nine months gestation period as a
woman. As a great ape, orangutan is the humankind’s closest living
relative in the animal kingdom, it can be seen when they are
approaching and asking man to feed them.
Orangutans are perfectly adapted to live in the forest, they are rarely descending to the forest floor, they build their nomadic nest on different tree every night, with material of twigs and tree branches, their diets including; fruit, young plants, and insects.
Banjarmasin town is River Oriented where houses on stilts lined the waterways crisscross the capital. Cruise the canal by motorized boat, especially in the morning or afternoon hours, shows the town from the inside, like people bathing, doing laundry, buying fruit, vegetable and fish in a tiny canoes of women vendors. The floating market is one of main tourism objects in this town. The market is available from 05:30 – 08:30 in the morning. At the location we can enjoy tradition of Banjarese people trading vegetables, fruit, drinks, cakes, and many kinds of other daily needs. Buyers can buy these commodities on board of their boats or from small stall attached to the back of people houses.

Tour Itenary :
Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN
Meet at airport and directly transfer to hotel for check in. Next, exploring Banjarese river civilization by taking an afternoon canal sightseeing. Afterwards, return to hotel for overnight. Free at your own leisure
Day 02 FLOATING MARKET – PANGKALAN BUN – TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK
Early in the morning, we will leave to floating market for exploring the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside, free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to airport for your flight to Pangkalan Bun.
Arrive at Pangkalan Bun airport and directly transfer to Kumai sub-district for boarding the houseboat to Tanjung Puting National Park. The houseboat is a traditional wooden river boat about 6m by 2m with a roof forms the upper deck where you can view the rainforest as it glides by. The boat crew including the boatman, cook and expert guide. In the peaceful afternoon, we will slowly explore the quite river by the houseboat while observing the primates along the riverside. Overnight and dining on houseboat, with facilities; thin mattress, pillow, fine meals, bottled "mineral" water, mosquito net, kitchen, and simple toilet available on boat besides the familiar helpful guides and boatmen. Day 03 TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, we will board the houseboat for cruising upward to Pondok Tanguy to explore the rehabilitation center of the new ex-captive orangutans. Next, return to houseboat for sailing upward the creek to Camp Leakey where the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rainforest. At this station, you will have opportunity to trek into the rainforest with your expert guide and forest rangers to appreciate the flora as well as viewing wild orangutans, gibbons, macaques, and birds. Lunch will be served on houseboat. In the afternoon, we will visit the feeding station to see rehabilitated orangutans are given additional foods. We will then sail back down the river and overnight on houseboat. (B,L,D)Day 04 TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK – DEPARTURE
Return to Kumai district by boat then transfer to Pangkalan Bun airport for your next destination. (B)
